I received this information from the city the other day:
The City Council has directed the City Planning & Zoning Commission to consider a number of revisions to the City’s Major Roadway Plan. These revisions are primarily additional roadway segments that have been added to the Columbia Area Transportation Study Organization (CATSO) Major Roadway Plan (MRP) since 2005. Included are a number of existing Boone County collector streets, and nine proposed local non-residential streets in the Route 763 (Rangeline Street) corridor that are now included on the CATSO MRP. Also to be considered is the proposed removal of one street from the City’s MRP - the future extension of Cunningham Road, from its current terminus north of Bray Avenue to Rollins Road. A map and spreadsheet of the proposed revisions to the Roadway Plan are included with this message. A public hearing on this item is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Building, 701 East Broadway, Columbia, Missouri. You are invited to attend and comment on any of the proposals on or before the public hearing date. After the public hearing, the Commission will forward its recommendations to the City Council. The City Council will then have a public hearing, usually 25 days after the Commission’s public hearing, and will take final action on the proposed revisions. A staff report on the proposed Major Roadway Plan revisions will be available on Friday, October 17, 2008, at: http://www.gocolumbiamo.com/Planning/Commissions/PZ/PZCAgenda102308.php This notice is being mailed to all neighborhood association contact persons. You are welcome to review information on this proposal at the City Planning and Development office, which is located on the second floor of the City Building (701 East Broadway, Columbia, MO), or you may call Mitch Skov, Senior Planner, at (573) 874-7243 for additional information.
There ya go – there’s nothing at that link yet, but it should be up by Friday if you are interested. I will unfortunately be out of town for the public hearing on the 23rd, but if anyone would like to attend and post information about it here, please feel free to do so!

Hey everyone!
Following our meeting with the reporters last week, there are several new irons in the fire. More about those when things come to fruition.
But I wanted to give everyone advance notice of a social occasion: on New Years Day, 2009, Martha and I will be having an Open House here at our home, and all are welcome! If you haven’t had a chance to see the house previously, this will be a good opportunity to check out the founding home for our neighborhood. We’ll have food and drink and (probably, unless it is freakishly warm) a fire going, warm companionship, and would love it if you stopped by! Let’s say anytime from Noon to Six PM – or as long as the party lasts.
So, put it on your calendar now – we’ll send out reminders and invitations later, but thought you might appreciate some advance notice to plan.
Toodles!
Jim Downey
