Holiday greetings to all our friends and neighbors here in Country Club estates! I hope your day is filled with friends and joy, whatever you wind up doing.
And remember that just one week from today we’ll be having an Open House. As I noted in October:
I wanted to give everyone advance notice of a social occasion: on New Years Day, 2009, Martha and I will be having an Open House here at our home, and all are welcome! If you haven’t had a chance to see the house previously, this will be a good opportunity to check out the founding home for our neighborhood. We’ll have food and drink and (probably, unless it is freakishly warm) a fire going, warm companionship, and would love it if you stopped by! Let’s say anytime from Noon to Six PM – or as long as the party lasts.
Cheers to one and all!

Passing along information from the city:
City of Columbia invites applicants for the Neighborhood Leadership Program
The City of Columbia will offer the first Neighborhood Leadership Program starting on February 17. The program is a six-session course designed to assist neighborhood leaders, and those interested in becoming more active in their neighborhood, with information on how municipal government functions. The course will also include sessions aimed at improving the leadership skills of participants that can be used in any setting. Presenters will include a variety of local elected officials, community leaders and city staff.
Sessions will be held from 6:00-8:30 p.m. on February 17, March 3, 17 & 31 and April 14 & 27. Space is limited and participants must be residents of the City of Columbia. There is a $25 registration fee that includes class materials, snacks and a meal at the last session. Scholarships are available.
To learn more or to register, contact the City’s Office of Volunteer Services, 874-7504 or volunteer@GoColumbiaMo.com or visit the city’s website at www.GoColumbiaMo.com. The program’s webpage is: http://www.gocolumbiamo.com/Volunteer/NeighborhoodLeadershipProgram.php
I’ll be signing up, so our neighborhood will be represented, but I would encourage anyone else who is interested to look at the program.
Cheers!

Got a note from the city to pass along:
I just wanted to draw everyone’s attention to the City of Columbia’s Graffiti Hotline, managed by yours truly at the following link: http://www.gocolumbiamo.com/Public_Comm/GraffitiHotline.php. This is a work in progress, and I have so far gotten only 14 referrals, 11 of which were generated internally by City staff regarding city property (traffic signs, parking garages, etc.) Your help in spreading the word and referring any graffiti issues you come across to me are greatly appreciated.

A hand-written note showed up in our mail box today, offering to buy our house. Of course, we’re not interested in selling, but it did get my attention. A bit of sleuthing turned up this business with the same phone number as provided in the letter: W Property Solutions, LLC. Just thought I would pass the information along to anyone else…
